APRL's Next Meetings

Semi-annual Meetings

APRL members meet semi-annually to discuss recent developments in professional responsibility and to catch up on friendships developed over the years. These semi-annual meetings are typically held in the same location as the ABA's Annual Meeting in August and Mid-year Meeting in February of each year. During 2012, APRL will meet in February in New Orleans and in August in Chicago.

International Gatherings

In addition to the semi-annual meetings, every two to three years APRL holds an international gathering in addition to the semi-annual meetings. Past gatherings have been held in France, Italy, China and the Netherlands and have provided members with an opportunity to meet with and explore common ground with lawyers from other nations interested in legal ethics and professional responsibility, and also to experience the culture of the country in which the meeting takes place. In 2012, APRL will hold another such gathering in Istanbul, Turkey.

2012 APRL International Meeting in Istanbul

The APRL International Conference will be held in Istanbul Turkey from Wednesday through Friday, May 2-4, 2012. An informal Welcome Reception will be held on Tuesday evening, May 1, 2012. An exciting program, including a day-long visit and conference at Yeditepe Law School, is planned.

Members – $200 / Non-members – $250
Optional Thursday night dinner – $50
Members can register online ($200), by logging in to the Members section of the APRL website and going to “Register for APRL Meetings” under REGISTRATION & RENEWAL.

Non-Members can also register for the event through our secure online form for $250.

Venue

Our conference hotel will be the Best Western President Hotel, a four star hotel in historic Istanbul, which overlooks the Marmara Sea and is adjacent to tourist, shopping and entertainment areas. The hotel has 201 modern rooms and provides excellent views of the city's skyline with its minarets and steeples. The Grand Bazaar and historical sites such as the Blue Mosque, the Hippodrome, St. Sophia, Topkapi Palace and the Underground Cistern are within walking distance of the hotel.

Reservations

The APRL rate for rooms is 120 Euros/night for a single and $130 Euros/night for twin or double. Reservations must be made by faxing the Reservation Form to the fax number indicated on the Form and referencing APRL/Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers by APRIL 1, 2012, or until the room block is exhausted. The registration fax form is attached as the last page of the brochure (pdf). The fax number is (90) 212.516.6998. Reservations may also be made on-line at http://www.thepresidenthotel.com/reservation.asp at rates slightly higher than the APRL rate.

Thursday Night Dinner

Our conference dinner, on Thursday night rather than our traditional Friday night, will be at the Pasazade Restaurant, 8 Ibn-i Kemal Street 5/A, Sirkeci (Sultanahmet), within a 10-15 minute walk (two metro stops) from The President Hotel.

Price: $50.
